Henry Clay cheer squad a runner-up in state championships

The “Super” division squad from Henry Clay High School earned second-place honors in the 2018-19 KHSAA competitive cheer state championships Dec. 8 in Alltech Arena at the Kentucky Horse Park. 

“The Henry Clay cheerleaders worked extremely hard to make it back to the state competition, and that alone was a huge accomplishment,” said their coach, Ashley Layne, a fourth-grade teacher at Breckinridge Elementary. “These student-athletes put on a show, despite having to implement changes and the injuries they’ve had to endure. Their tears of joy definitely stemmed from so many emotions, but at the top would have to be that they finally received the outcome they deserved!”
