Safety Vestibule Construction

Safety Vestibule Construction

Crawford Families,

We are excited to announce that on Monday, November 18 crews will begin a construction project at Crawford building a new secure vestibule in the front of our building.  This construction project was proposed as part of the FCPS District safety plan. Safety is the number one priority and I am happy that this project will be complete in about four weeks and our school will become more secure.  During construction we will need to make a few temporary changes to our operational procedures.

  1. Arrival of students before school will not be impacted by construction.
  2. A temporary location for late check-in and early check-outs has been created during the construction project.  If a student checks into school after 9:00 am or has to leave school prior to 4:00 pm, parents must use the temporary entrance at the back of the building.  We will place our Crawford flag and orange cones to mark the location for drop-off and pick up.
  3. If items need to be dropped off for a student after 9:00 am, the temporary entrance must be used.

Ms. Brumley or other staff will be occupying the temporary entrance throughout the school day so that we have little to no disruption in our check-in/check-out procedures.

The front entrance and office will not be accessible during the construction project from the inside or the outside.  All visitors must check in through the temporary entrance.

I appreciate your flexibility during this time.  Again, safety is our number one priority and these temporary changes are necessary so that we can remain out of the contractors way and safe.

Thank you.

Mr. Jones
