LTMS student honors band director with winning art entry

Alyssa Pyles, an artist and band student at LTMS, won first place in the middle school division of the Kentucky Education Association’s 2019 #DifferenceMakers art contest. Alyssa creatively portrayed band director Caitlin Housley holding a trumpet in class with sheet music in the background. Each winter, contest entries from across the state are displayed in the Capitol Annex in Frankfort. Cash prizes go to division winners in grades K-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12, who are also featured in the KEA News. KEA President Stephanie Winkler will present Alyssa’s award at LTMS in late April, along with the framed artwork for Housley to keep. For questions, please contact art teacher Jaime Giger.
