Students excel in SkillsUSA statewide competition

Dozens of Southside students participated in the 2019 SkillsUSA Kentucky Leadership Conference and Skills Championship April 10-13 in Louisville. Among the highlights, Abby Meadors was elected a state officer, and Brianna Clark won the Michael Jude Scholarship. Following are the top results. The first-place winners qualify for SkillsUSA nationals this summer, except in contests listed as state only. 

Leadership 

  • Customer Service: second, Abby Meadors 
  • Employment Application Process: first place, Will Rodriguez 
  • Job Interview: third, Ian Carrillo 
  • Promotional Bulletin Board: second, Madison Allen, Summer Delgado, & Tamra Owens 

Technical contests 

  • Electronics: first place, Brianna Clark; third, William Hernandez 
  • Engineering Technology & Design: third, Jaxson Colliver, Abby Meadors, & Kage Baker 
  • First Aid/CPR: first place, Allan Friend 
  • Mobile Electronics Installation: first place, Dylan Resinger 
  • Principles of Engineering & Technology: first place, Sophie Agbekpenou
