Cardinal Valley Elementary Claims Top National Green School Award
US Education Secretary Miguel Cardona congratulated Cardinal Valley Elementary as one of only 26 schools in the nation to earn US Dept of Education National Green Ribbon School recognition.
To earn GRS award, a school must demonstrate excellence in three green school pillars:
- environmental literacy
- building efficiency
- student & staff wellness
Adonya Boyle, Cardinal Valley Elementary Sustainability Coordinator, visits their Outdoor Classroom weekly during the summer to water, prune and harvest in preparation for students to return in the fall, excited to use one of FCPS's largest and most instructionally-embedded Outdoor Classrooms to learn across disciplines and grade levels.
