Tree Week 2020 a Success!

200 + trees adopted, 65+ Legacy Trees Planted, 5 Planting with Your Principal campus trees, countless Mindful Tree Walks, all part of Lexington's third annual Tree Week in partnership with UK Urban Forest Initiative and LFUCG Urban Forestry and Park & Recreation.

Adopt-A-Tree

Students chose their favorite neighborhood tree, measured their ecological benefits (water, energy, biodiversity, habitat) and shared data.

Legacy Forest

High school students registered their favorite tree and planted it in their school's designated Fayette County public park Legacy Forest. Congratulations to Lafayette High School for planting 50+ trees in their designated Legacy Forest in nearby Wellington Park.

Planting with Your Principal

Elementary school students learned about the ecological, energy, water and biodiversity benefits of their school's new Sugar Maple or Beech Tree and heard about arobrist career pathways from their principal, teacher and local city arborists. Videod or streamed for their whole school community to enjoy, students are excited to visit their new tree when they return to campus, hope to carefully measure its growth and plan to visit it even after high school graduation.
