Students from seven FCPS and three independent high schools have joined hands to improve sustainability on their campuses and our community-at-large.  Led by Student Facilitators Reka Gal (PLD '20) and Ben Waltman (Sayre '20), the Bluegrass Youth Sustainability is organized into Project Committees, each led by Co- Project Committee Chairs, to partner with dozens of elected officials, local busnissses and non-profits to take on energy efficiency, solid waste, water quality, urban tree canopy, climate change and sustainable agriculture.

Entirely student-led, BYSC has plans to host its third annual Student Sustaianbility Leadership Academy in spring 2020 in partnership with Transylvania University, launch a Middle School Mentoring program and continues to provide youth insight and guidance on the design and engagement elements of Lexington's impending "downtown living room" Town Branch Park.
