Seventh-grader wins subject award in national tournament
Chakri Gudlavalleti, a seventh-grader at Winburn, competed this spring in the 2019 Individual Player National Championship Tournament near Chicago, where he earned a special award for ranking in the Top 3 in Social Studies and Philosophy. Chakri squared off against 83 peers and finished at No. 21 overall in the tournament. Other subject awards went out for Literature, History, Geography, Science and Math, and Fine Arts. While quiz bowl is usually a team competition, the Individual Player National Championship Tournament welcomes individual students to see how their knowledge, reflexes, and anticipation stack up.
