Geddes selected as Health Education Teacher of the Year
The Kentucky Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (KAHPERD) saluted Mary Jo Geddes of Tates Creek High School as its 2019-20 Health Education Teacher of the Year. She received the award during October's fall conference in Louisville.
Geddes is marking her 17th year in the district – all at TCHS. A native of Alexandria, she graduated from the University of Kentucky with a double major in Kinesiology and Health Promotion. She later earned two master’s degrees from Eastern Kentucky University: in Health Education and in Instructional Leadership.
“I tell my students the first day of class, ‘Your greatest wealth is your health,’” Geddes said. “My goal as a health educator is to teach my students the skills that are necessary to achieve their life goals in all dimensions of health.”
