PLD Swim & Dive 2023 Combined KHSAA State Champions

Congratulations to your 2023 Kentucky High School Swimming & Diving Combined State Champions, the Dunbar Bulldogs! This is our teams 3rd consecutive combined team title  and 6th combined title in school history! 

 

TEAM STANDINGS: 

Boys – State Champion Runner-Up (first time since 2009) 

Girls – 5th place (highest finish since 2016) 

 

3 Bulldogs were named on the All-State team:

NEW KENTUCKY HIGH SCHOOL STATE RECORD HOLDER! 

Alex Ochsenbein broke the STATE RECORD in the boys 100 Breaststroke with an All-America automatic time of 53.75! The fastest breaststroker in the HISTORY of Kentucky High School swimming!!

 

6 NEW SCHOOL RECORDS! 

The relay team of Mark Dattilio, Alex Ochsenbein, Nathan Zhu & Blake Sammons broke the school record in the boys 200 Medley relay with an All-America consideration time of 1:33.59. The previous record was set last year at the 2022 state championship meet. 

 

Alex Ochsenbein lowered his own school record from two weeks ago in the boys 200 IM with an All-America automatic time of 1:48.23. 

 

Nathan Zhu broke the school record in the boys 100 Fly with an All-America consideration time of 49.11. The previous record was set in 2004 by Brandon Lovell. 

 

Seneca Oddo broke the school record in the boys 100 Free with an All-America consideration time of 45.23. The previous record was set in 2009 by Eric Bruck. 

 

The relay team of Alex Ochsenbein, Nathan Zhu, Mark Dattilio, & Seneca Oddo broke the school record in the boys 200 Freestyle relay with an All-America automatic time of 1:23.04. The previous record was set last year at the 2022 region 8 meet. 

 

Alex Ochsenbein lowered his own school record from last season in the boys 100 breast with an All-America automatic time of 53.75. (Did I mention that this is a NEW STATE RECORD?!)
