Regional Governor's Cup

Governor's Cup Regional competition was held online Saturday, February 13th and PLD did not disappoint. After qualifying in district, individuals and teams competed with other districts in our region to try to move on to state competition.

Each school was able to send three students in each discipline to district competition. The top 5 in each discipline move on as well as anyone who scores 40 or higher. The process repeats itself at the regional level. Students below have now made it through two grueling rounds of testing against the best and brightest other schools have to offer and will move on to State.

In science freshman Omar Hamid received third place.
In language arts freshman Alex Stumbur scored first.
In Arts and Humanities Joanna Cholewo scored third
In Composition Emily Hu took first and Alexandra Seesee took second
In both math and social studies all three original testers have now survived both rounds.
In Social Studies Chakrapani Gudlavellti took 3rd, Aditya Sundarrajan took 4th and Ralph Bright received a score of 41 which qualified him to advance.
In math PLD had the top three scores to move all students forward. Teerth Patel and Krishna Bhatraju tied for second with 48/50 and Ayush Tibrewal scored a perfect 50. This is Ayush's third trip to regional competition but his first perfect score at this level.

Our FPS team came out on top to win the region and our Quick Recall team remained undefeated all day to take first as well. Points from all victories are added to have an overall winner and PLD came away with 53 points for the day-32 points ahead of the second-place team.

Wish us luck as we advance to virtual state competition on March 13th.
