A top winner in Imagine Learning contest!

Throughout the 2020-21 academic year, Imagine Learning challenged students, classrooms, and schools to maximize their literacy and math practice in the Fayette County Imagine Your Future contest. Meadowthorpe Elementary was the districtwide winner in Imagine Math 3+ with the highest average usage of this online learning platform – embodying the Imagine Learning spirit and earning the title Imagine Learning Galactic School of the Year! The honor came with a $200 school supplies gift card to celebrate their students’ hard work.

“It supports goal setting for kids in a different academic way,” Principal Stephanie Urbanek said of the benefits of Imagine Learning. “It also provides an opportunity for differentiated instruction, especially when they were at home (in remote learning because of COVID-19).” Her staff appreciates the tool as well. “The kids work at their own pace, so it’s completely individualized. It also frees me up to help (as needed),” said third grade teacher Nathan Cornett.

Aside from the three overall winners, the Out of this World Classroom Award went to randomly selected classrooms that met a product benchmark. In Imagine Math 3+, Cornett’s third graders and Alexandra Farhadian’s fourth graders averaged 30+ passed lessons as a classroom; and in Imagine Language and Literacy, Lura Dauer’s kindergarteners averaged 20+ hours as a classroom. These groups got their choice of a $50 gift card from either Amazon, Pizza Hut, Papa John’s, or Domino’s.

Meadowthorpe also had one of three randomly selected children to receive the Imagine Your Future Shooting Star Student Award for their commitment to learning, which came with a certificate and a Fire Tablet. Congratulations to fourth grader Havi Sheth, who not only excelled as the top Math 3+ student in Fayette County Public Schools but also used his accumulated think points to donate more than $100 to charity.
