Sign up for Cuts & Curls; FRYSCs can help with supplies

The district’s Office of Equity, School Support, & Community Engagement has teamed with many community partners to offer three special events that provide valuable resources for our families as we head into the 2021-22 school year.

Stuff the Bus!

  • 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, July 31

Please stop by Lexington Green to help stuff a school bus with donated supplies, which FCPS will distribute to students at the Cuts & Curls event. Suggestions: backpacks, earbuds/headphones, half-inch binders, 1-inch binders, 2-inch binders, composition notebooks, spiral notebooks (1 subject, 3 subject, and 5 subject), loose-leaf paper, index cards, folders, pencils (wooden and mechanical), pencils boxes/pouches, highlighters, markers, crayons, colored pencils, dry erase markers, scissors and Fiskars scissors, glue sticks, hand sanitizer, Kleenex, and Clorox wipes

Back to School Rallies

  • 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 31

This annual event provides elementary, middle, and high school students with free full-size backpacks and school supplies. Because of COVID-19 precautions, the YMCA of Central Kentucky again plans a drive-thru pickup format for the neighborhood rallies. Advance registration was required to reserve a time slot at one of the nine locations. Update: All rally slots are now filled, so please contact your school's Family Resource Center or Youth Services Center for assistance with school supplies.

Cuts & Curls

  • 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Aug. 2

Area barbers and stylists will offer free haircuts, braids, and new styles for FCPS students at the annual Cuts & Curls event, hosted by STEAM Academy and Success Academy at 1555 Georgetown Rd. Free eye exams and physicals will also be available. Registration is required.
