Window now open to apply for magnet schools, G&T, and specialized programs
The 2018-19 application window for the district’s magnet schools, gifted and talented programs, and several specialized academic programs is open Aug. 15 through Oct. 7. It’s not a first-come, first-served system. Applications may be submitted anytime during this window, and all will receive equal consideration.
Fayette County Public Schools provides a diverse selection of programs to support student growth and opportunities in a variety of areas. Programs range from gifted and talented fine arts to magnet schools with Spanish immersion or individually prescribed education. In addition, several schools offer specialized tracks such as pre-engineering and information technology.
Individual open houses in the coming weeks will further explain the options, which focus on students’ needs, interests, and abilities. FCPS will also host a districtwide Information Night from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 14 at Henry Clay High School, with representatives from each program on hand to answer questions.
For questions, please contact the program’s facilitator.
Note: Applications for Eastside and Southside technical centers and Locust Trace AgriScience Center are handled in the spring through the student’s home school and guidance office. However, Locust Trace accepts eighth-graders' applications from mid-August through January. Visit the tech centers' websites for details.
