The Frederick Douglass girls defeated Bryan Station 56-43 on Feb. 24 for the 42^nd District Tournament championship. Senior point guard Jer Myra Christian had 20 points, and reserve Jaelee Knowles pulled down 10 rebounds. Meanwhile in the 43^rd District finals, Tates Creek fell to Lexington Catholic 54-39.

The three teams from Fayette County Public Schools advanced to the 11^th Region Girls’ Tournament, but only Douglass made it past the first round. The Broncos knocked off Great Crossing and Madison Central, and will play Lexington Catholic in the finals at 6 p.m. March 4 at Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond.

On the boys’ side, Frederick Douglass routed Scott County 69-39 for its fourth straight 42^nd District Tournament title. Armelo Boone, selected as the MVP, recorded 14 points, four steals, three assists, and six rebounds. The Broncos advanced to the 11^th Region Boys’ Tournament as the lone representative of FCPS. They play Madison Central in the semifinals at 1 p.m. March 4 at EKU.
