Dunbar’s Swim Teams Bring Home 2023 State Honors
In the 2023 KHSAA State Swimming & Diving Championships, Paul Laurence Dunbar High School earned the coaches’ association’s “combined championship” recognizing the best total boys’ and girls’ team scores. In other highlights, Alex Ochsenbein set a meet record in the boys’ 100-yard breaststroke, and Cole Pleasants was named the Girls’ Coach of the Year.

- 200-Yard Medley Relay: 1. Mark Dattilio, Alex Ochsenbein, Nathan Zhu, and Blake Sammons
- 50-Yard Freestyle: 1. Seneca Oddo
- 100-Yard Butterfly: 2. Nathan Zhu
- 100-Yard Freestyle: 2. Seneca Oddo
- 200-Yard Freestyle Relay: 2. Alex Ochsenbein, Nathan Zhu, Mark Dattilio, and Seneca Oddo
- 100-Yard Breaststroke: 1. Alex Ochsenbein, 53.75*
- 400-Yard Freestyle Relay: 2. Blake Sammons, Seneca Oddo, Will Hinz, and Sammy Nunez
