Five Wrestlers Pick Up Victories in Region 6 Competition
Fayette County Public Schools (FCPS) produced five winners in the 2023 KHSAA Region 6 Wrestling Championships on Feb. 11 in Georgetown:
- 120-pound weight class -- Anthony Condi of Frederick Douglass (Most Outstanding Male Wrestler)
- 150 -- Kubwimana Jasitin of Lafayette
- 190 -- Jadan Hackney of Henry Clay
- 215 -- Jahvon Frazier of Bryan Station
- 285 -- Gary McCauley of Bryan Station
Trinity Gottler of Tates Creek High School, who was named Most Outstanding Female Wrestler, also qualified for state through the co-ed competition.
In the team standings, Douglass placed third to pace FCPS. Tates Creek was fourth, followed by Henry Clay, Lafayette, and Bryan Station.
Since the pandemic, the Kentucky High School Athletic Association has divided the state event. The top four finishers in each class from Regions 5-8 will compete Feb. 18 in Union, while Regions 1-4 will compete in Louisville in order to narrow the field for the final round Feb. 24-25 in Winchester.
