FCPS Salutes Beta Clubs after State Convention Contests

Fayette County Public Schools sends a shout-out to students who excelled in Kentucky’s 2023 Beta Club state conventions. Highlights included first place winners from Paul Laurence Dunbar and Lafayette high schools and from Bryan Station and Leestown middle schools. Here are our FCPS results:

Senior Division (high school)

Biomedical Health Science / 11th Grade – 3rd place to Alexander Ray of Bryan Station

Marketing & Communications – 1st place to Paul Laurence Dunbar (Jason Chen, Aaron HuSun, Jodie Yang, and Katie Yang) 

Musicology / Oral – 3rd to Bryan Station

Performing Arts / Instrumental – 1st place to Ellen Fei of Dunbar  

Performing Arts / Vocalist – 1st place Ashley Vela of Lafayette 

Quiz Bowl – 2nd to Bryan Station

Social Studies / 12th Grade – 4th place to Frances Kilgore of Bryan Station

Spanish / 9th Grade – 2nd place to Bella Garcia of Bryan Station

Spanish / 10th Grade – 4th place to Jose Naranjo of Carter G. Woodson Academy

Spanish / 11 Grade – 3rd to Thomas Grant of Bryan Station

Speech Division II – 1st place to Ellen Fei of Dunbar

Junior Division (middle school)

Fiber Arts – 2nd place to Caraline Sterne of Edythe J. Hayes

Jewelry – 1st place to Anna Tsitova of Leestown

Math / 7th Grade – 3rd to Audrey Elliott of Leestown and 5th to Parker Guckenberger of Morton

Onsite Art / Painting – 3rd to Reese Hooks of Hayes

Performing Arts / Instrumental – 4th to Hayes and 5th to Leestown

Poetry – 4th to Leestown

Portfolio – 5th place to Hayes

Robotics – 1st place to Bryan Station (Signe Ingram, Preston McClain, Rio Miriti, and Alexis Schroeder)

Science / 7th Grade – 2nd place to Lukas Matson of Leestown

Social Studies / 8th Grade – 3rd to Gavin Beatty of Leestown

Spanish / 8th Grade – 3rd to Leestown and 5th to Addison Moore of Hayes

Elementary Division

Spanish / 4th Grade – 3rd place to Jose Hernandez-Hernandez of Brenda Cowan

All three conventions were in mid-January at the Central Bank Center in downtown Lexington.
