Clark the First Black Woman on Board Since School Consolidation
The Fayette County Board of Education opened the January action meeting with the ceremonial swearing in of their newest member: Marilyn Clark. “Board member Clark is making history this evening as the first Black American female member of the Fayette County Board of Education since the consolidation of the city and county schools in 1967,” Superintendent Demetrus Liggins noted.
The board unanimously chose Clark to fill the District 1 vacancy created in November with the resignation of Christy Morris.
