Winburn Trio Earns National Honor for History Project
A team from Winburn Middle School received the U.S. Constitution Award during the 2022 National History Day final competition in mid-June. Ian Cronk, Jack Gill, and Owen Krohmer prepared a junior division group exhibit titled “What’s the Deal with the Louisiana Purchase?” Their special award, sponsored by the National Archives and Records Administration, was this year’s only national honor for Fayette County Public Schools.
At the state level this spring, the Winburn team received the Outstanding Early American History Award, sponsored by the Sons of the American Revolution. Ian, Jack, and Owen were among nearly a dozen Winburn students who qualified for nationals with projects focused on “Debate and Diplomacy: Successes, Failures, Consequences.”
Did you know? The 2022-23 NHD theme is “Frontiers in History.”
