STEAM’s Manley tapped as state’s P.E. Teacher of the Year
The STEAM Academy’s Jordan Manley is Kentucky’s 2021 High School P.E. Teacher of the Year. KY SHAPE presented him the award in late November before the holiday break.
Manley started teaching in 2015 at STEAM, where he serves as wellness teacher, elective department chair, and intramurals director. “My program is to help students develop their identity as a physically active person,” he said. “They have access to physical education classes, CrossFit electives, health education classes, and intramural sports and fitness clubs to facilitate a well-rounded physical education.” Manley also uses an app called miMove to add social/emotional learning as students figure out how physical activity brings meaning to their life.
A native of Lexington, Manley earned a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and Health Promotion from the University of Kentucky and his M.Ed. Teacher Leadership degree from the University of the Cumberlands. He is also a CrossFit Level 2 and CrossFit Kids Trainer.
