No. 4 seed LTMS captures 2021 B-league football title

After returning the opening kickoff for a touchdown, the LTMS Blackcats’ B team never looked back and defeated No. 3 seed Jessie Clark 32-0 in the district playoffs championship. Fourth-seeded Lexington Traditional Magnet School, led by head coach Deandre Adams, got scoring runs from Fred Carson, Brandon Santiago, and Zoe Marion Smith. On defense, Brandon recorded a sack and Fred added a fourth-quarter interception.

The Nov. 11 win capped a playoff run that included a 30-8 victory over Morton in the first round and an 18-6 upset of No. 1 Edythe J. Hayes in the semifinals.

Many of the LTMS seventh graders who led the JV team were also key contributors for the varsity “A” squad throughout the season. Adams and his coaching staff hope the combination of this year’s success and returning players with valuable experience will lead to great results in 2022.
