Five soccer teams advance from district to 11th Region action

A handful of soccer teams from Fayette County Public Schools qualified for the 11th Region tournaments, which culminate with the Oct. 16 finals. The district winners and runners-up advanced in the 2021 postseason.

In the boys’ field, Paul Laurence Dunbar was 43rd District champion, having defeated Tates Creek in the semis and Lexington Catholic in the finals. In the 42nd District, Henry Clay beat Sayre and then Frederick Douglass for the title.

On the girls’ side, Henry Clay won the 42nd District championship after eliminating Scott County and Sayre, and in the 43rd District, Lafayette was runner-up after beating Dunbar but falling to Lexington Catholic.
