FCPS presents 2020 Golden Apple Awards to seven partners

Several high-performing community partners are receiving Golden Apple Awards from Fayette County Public Schools for their efforts working with the district and specific schools during the 2019-20 school year: 

  • Business/industry category – The Ridge Behavioral Health System 
  • Community organization/nonprofit – Bluegrass Greensource 
  • Faith-based group – First Baptist Bracktown 
  • Individual (youth) – Deuce Russell 
  • Individual – Heather Matics of the Fayette County Attorney’s Office; 
  • Postsecondary institution/student group – Office of Diversity in the University of Kentucky’s College of Agriculture, Food, and Environment 
  • School-based organization – Kappa Klub at Leestown Middle School  

Details on the 2020 award winners 

The Community Partners Leadership Team, which serves as a link between Fayette County schools and the local community, facilitates the Golden Apple Awards. The CPLT includes representatives from more than two dozen organizations that provide substantial time, funds, and other resources for students, teachers, and schools through hundreds of partnerships, mentorships, programs, and initiatives.
