Animal-loving students earn ribbons at 2020 State Fair

Several Fayette County Public Schools students won ribbons in the 2020 Kentucky State Fair despite limited competition and other restrictions amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Among the highlights, eighth grader and FFA member Kylee Pierre of Jessie Clark Middle School received first place in Junior Buck Holland Lop Class with her rabbit Cash, and Winburn Middle sixth grader Keyla Rojas-Sosa secured several honors in the Youth Sheep contests.

In addition, the Groth family took home numerous awards for their work with sheep. The prize-winning siblings include Madelyn Groth, a senior at Lafayette High School; Caroline, a sophomore at Lafayette; Silas, an eighth grader from SCAPA at Bluegrass; and Anna-Grace, a third grader at Maxwell Spanish Immersion Magnet Elementary.
