Henry Clay boys embrace 2019 state soccer championship
Senior Cayden Rose sent a corner kick into the net for the lead and Henry Clay eventually notched the win in the 2019 Boys’ State Soccer Championship. Tahj Jairam’s goal in the closing minutes Nov. 2 helped Henry Clay secure the 2-0 victory over Daviess County for its third state title in the Kentucky High School Athletic Association tournament.
The all-tournament team included Cayden, Ethan Anderson, and Sota Ippongi, with Ethan earning MVP honors.
Henry Clay had brought back eight starters from the team that last season lost in the semifinals to the eventual state champion. Coach Jason Behler was an assistant when the Blue Devils last played in the finals, in 2015. Their previous titles came in 2010 and 1991.
