Three from LTMS place in environmental/emoji poster contest
Three art students from Lexington Traditional Magnet School earned honors in the 2018 Environmental Poster Contest sponsored by EnviroHealthLink, a tracking network at the Kentucky Department for Public Health. Seventh-grader Alyssa Pyles took second place overall in the statewide competition and received a $75 gift card. Meanwhile, eighth-grader Bionna Webb and sixth-grader Calyn Guinnip were winners in their respective age groups, and each got a $25 prize.
The prompt for this year’s poster contest was “Show us how the environment affects your health – emoji style.” Judges considered the students’ creativity, poster theme, use of emojis, and originality. The top entries were on display Oct. 11 in Georgetown during the third annual Kentucky Children’s Environmental Health Summit.
