School psychologists salute Boggs for outstanding work

Stephanie Boggs The Kentucky Association for Psychology in the Schools (KAPS) has presented Stephanie Boggs with a 2019-20 regional Best Practice Award. Colleagues saluted her during the KAPS fall conference at the Lexington Convention Center. Boggs, who is in her 19th year with FCPS, works at Henry Clay High School, The Learning Center (TLC), STEAM Academy, and the Success Academy. From Corbin, she earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a specialist degree in school psychology from Eastern Kentucky University.

“I knew from a young age that I wanted to be a psychologist to work with children who struggle with mental health problems. Upon discovering the field (of school psychology) during my undergraduate time, it was a perfect fit for me,” Boggs said. “I believe investing in our children’s mental health is just as crucial as their educational achievements. Serving as a school psychologist has allowed me to use my skills to accomplish many goals like improving academic achievement, promoting positive behavior and mental health, supporting diverse learners, and creating a safe, positive school climate.”
