The Kentucky World Language Association saluted Marisol Martin of Liberty Elementary as its 2021 Rising Star Teacher, the overall winner of the new-to-profession award. KWLA celebrated her achievement during its virtual state conference in mid-September.
Martin, who has been with FCPS for five years, teaches second grade math and science in Liberty’s Dual Language Immersion Program. She strives to create a safe and supportive environment and to inspire students’ passion for learning. In the classroom, Martin shares her love for languages and communicates the importance of language development and the critical need for being sensitive and open-minded to appreciate other people’s cultures.
A native of Veracruz, Mexico, she earned a B.S. in Business Administration from Midway College and a master’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of the Cumberlands.She is working on her Educational Specialist degree, principal certification at the University of Kentucky.
