Henry Clay delegation excels in Cambridge virtual Model UN conference

Three students from Henry Clay High School earned accolades during the Cambridge University International Model United Nations high school conference, a Sept. 19 virtual event that drew more than 300 participants from around the world via Zoom.

  • Taylor Galavotti, a senior presenting the Slovak Republic, received Best Delegate in the North American Treaty Organization;
  • Bella Galavotti, a sophomore representing the Republic of Moldova, received the Best Speaker award in NATO; and
  • Grayson Kemplin, a junior representing Saudi Arabia in the United Nations Development Program, received the Honorable Delegate award.

The delegation of seven Henry Clay students, representing seven countries, was the only group from the United States attending the 2020 Cambridge conference. Organizers shortened and modified the annual program because of COVID-19 pandemic restrictions. Delegates spent the day debating in committees and attended optional workshops on careers in the U.N., international law and resolution writing, and applying to university.
