Cross country tryouts and practice will begin Aug. 1 from 6 to 7:30 p.m., and tryouts will be finished the first week of school. Practice will be daily, Monday through Friday after tryouts. Any interested runner needs to start running immediately, and strive for 3 to 5 miles per week. Be sure to drink lots of water and be careful in the heat.
Athletes on the track team who are not playing another sport this fall such as football or volleyball are encouraged to tryout for the cross country team. You do not have to be a pure long distance runner to benefit from running cross country. Normally several soccer players who play soccer and run XC at well.
The new FCPS parent consent and release form (2 pages) and the new Physical Form (4 Pages) are attached in our Team App. Physicals are good for one calendar year, not a school year. Runners must have a current physical before they are eligible to try out for the team.
