I hope that you and your family are enjoying the weekend. This week was a busy one at Dixie! We enjoyed all of the visitors for Grandparents/Important Adults Lunch on Monday and Tuesday and on Thursday we enjoyed seeing everyone at our Open House. The Scholastic Book Fair was a huge success and almost all of our students were able to purchase books, thanks to donations from our students and families.
We ended our busy week with our first full house meeting on Friday. All students spent time getting to know other students across the school from their house, they celebrated students that earned house points and learned their house cheer and sign. Our house system is a big part of our culture and allows us to celebrate our students for academic success and strong character. Our next house meeting will be a school wide pep rally on September 30th.
On Monday our kindergarten students kicked off their project "Storybook Showcase" for Project Based Learning with a performance of Puss and Boots from the Lexington Children's Theater. Students from kindergarten through third grade were able to participate and they all enjoyed the show! The kindergartners will start working on choosing their favorite storybook characters to bring to life.
As we enter into the new week, I want to remind all families if your child eats breakfast at school, please get to school by 7:30. Students will still have access to breakfast until 7:45, but we start instruction right at 7:45. We want students to have time to eat in the complex without feeling rushed. If students arrive by 7:30 they have time to eat and are ready to go by 7:45.
Thank you for your partnership as we continue to work together to reach our full potential and to provide opportunities for our students to be a positive force in our changing world!
Family Resource Center is here to assist you! If you need assistance getting school supplies, clothing, or food for your Dixie student, please contact Ms. Gettis at 859-381-3128 or Kasey.firstname.lastname@example.org
While Dixie's meals will continue at no charge for the 2022-23 school year (through the National School LunchProgram’s CEP-Community Eligibility Provision), it is still important that families who would qualify(Free/Reduced) meal assistance, to fill out an application every school year. This is a great support to ourfamilies but also provides funding and resources for the school.
-Income guidelines are below that may help determine if you should complete the application.
-If your child recently received an approval of direct certification (DC) benefits letter for this 2022-23 SY, you donot need to fill out the form.
-Only one form per family needed, and it only takes a few minutes. For the 2022-23 school year, complete thisform online @ http://bit.ly/FCPSEBF

Dixie students eat free!
We are excited to announce that all Dixie Magnet students will receive breakfast and lunch at no cost throughout this school year. However, it is still important for families to complete an application for non-meal related benefits associated with student free/reduced data. We call this the Educational Benefits Form. Filling it out helps both the your family and our school. This information is tied to federal Title 1 funding that helps pay for additional staff and family engagement programs that are vital to our school. Please complete this form.
We always enjoy having visitors for lunch. If you come to eat lunch with your child please know that you will eat at one of our colorful booths with your child. We don't always have room at the tables for visitors and for security and district protocols we have to closely monitor who has access to our students while in the building.
