Principal Update
I hope that you and your family have enjoyed the beautiful weekend! This week our kindergarten, fourth grade and fifth grade students enjoyed extended field trips. On Monday the kindergartners enjoyed a full day at the Louisville Zoo. Fourth graders traveled to 4-H camp in Carlisle, Kentucky on Wednesday where they hiked, dissected owl pellets, engaged in a pond study and enjoyed plenty of smores around the campfire. Our fifth graders traveled to Louisville on Thursday where they visited the Louisville Slugger Museum, the Louisville Science Center and then enjoyed dinner at the Old Spaghetti Factory. We appreciate all the help from our families and chaperones which made these experiences possible for our students. We ended the week with Wellness Day where students had 2 wellness workshops during their specials time. They learned from Premiere Martial Arts and Juhtan McClain with the UK Football team. It was an exciting day!
We are working hard to squeeze in as much learning and fun as we can over the next 19 days. Our kindergarten and second graders are looking forward to sharing their learning at their PBL Expo night this Wednesday. Our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders will have their KSA Parade on Friday afternoon as we wish them good luck on KSA the week of May 8th - 12th. Coach Gay is busy planning field day and we have several other activities in the works. We look forward to enjoying the next 19 days with our students.
Thank you for your partnership as we continue to work together to reach our full potential and to provide opportunities for our students to be a positive force in our changing world!
Sincerely,
Cynthia Bruno, Principal

Morning Arrival
- Pull all the way down in the car rider line. This helps us get as many cars in the line as possible. We understand that it's cold outside (trust me - we are standing out there for 30 min), your child will always have a short walk inside. We've noticed some cars like to stop in front of certain doors which slows down the line and decreases the number of cars we are able to get through the line before 7:45.
- For our 3rd - 5th grade students - they can enter the building through the FRC door or the back door. Whatever the case, when your car has stopped in the car lane, please have your child exit the vehicle. We've noticed that many families like to drive all the way to the end so their child doesn't have a long walk to the back door, but again, they can enter the FRC door or the backdoor. When you move all the way down to get closer to the backdoor this slows down the line.
- If your child is dropped off after 7:45 they will need to enter through the front door. You can pull into the front loop at that time. Our staff enter the building at 7:45 and we close all side doors at that time.
Family Resource Center
Family Resource Center is here to assist you! If you need assistance getting school supplies, clothing, or food for your Dixie student, please contact Ms. Gettis at 859-381-3128 or Kasey.gettis@fayette.kyschools.us
While Dixie's meals will continue at no charge for the 2022-23 school year (through the National School LunchProgram’s CEP-Community Eligibility Provision), it is still important that families who would qualify(Free/Reduced) meal assistance, to fill out an application every school year. This is a great support to ourfamilies but also provides funding and resources for the school.
-Income guidelines are below that may help determine if you should complete the application.
-If your child recently received an approval of direct certification (DC) benefits letter for this 2022-23 SY, you donot need to fill out the form.
-Only one form per family needed, and it only takes a few minutes. For the 2022-23 school year, complete thisform online @ http://bit.ly/FCPSEBF
Lunch
It's also important to know that when you come for lunch, we ask that you go to the cafeteria and then when lunch is over please exit the building out the front doors. We are enhancing our security and all exterior doors have alarms set when students are in the building.
