Boys basketball tryouts
UPDATE: The final day of boys basketball tryouts wil be on Friday 1/22 (unless you have already contacted Coach K or Coach Dixon and made other arrangements). 6th/7th graders will go from 5:30-7:00pm and 8th graders will go from 7:00-8:30pm. Numbers for who has made the team will be posted by Saturday morning (1/23).
On Thursday, January 7, our students will begin the Spring semester virtually, following our Fall NTI-2DL schedule. Morton will continue to follow District guidance about in-person and remote learning options.
We are making every effort to prepare a plan to set each of our students up for success. All students will have 8 periods each day whether in-person or remote IF students return to instruction by reporting to the building. If students continue virtual learning in January, we will have 4 classes each day with a modified Wednesday schedule, similar to our current virtual schedule.
Our goal is to keep students on their current team whether they are in-person or remote in January. Every student, whether in-person or remote, will have the same amount of class time. Every student, whether in-person or remote, will have adequate and appropriate supervision to ensure safety and learning to the best of our ability.
Have a wonderful, safe winter break! Classes will resume virtually with NTI: 2DL on Jan. 7, 2021. We encourage all FCPS students, staff, and their families to follow CDC guidelines during winter break to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Eastside & Southside Technical Centers
The Eastside & Southside Technical Centers have developed a CTE program information/application google site that describes and illustrates the various programs available to upcoming Freshman. We have been working to find ways to proactively inform students about our programs prior to scheduling, particularly making 8th graders aware of our offerings and provide access to learning more about them.

Morton Middle Schools Targeted Services Reopening Plan
As the district and schools continue providing instruction utilizing the NTI-2DL model, it may be necessary for schools to bring small groups of students into the building for short orientation periods or to provide targeted services. This document should be used to capture and communicate the districts’ targeted services model.
Prepare for NTI/2DL
All secondary schools are moving to Canvas for their digital Learning Management System (LMS). This will limit students having to learn multiple systems. Canvas is very well-organized and allows for more creativity and engagement in lessons. It also interfaces with Infinite Campus, connects to district provided programs, provides due dates for assignments, and allows for easy communication between parent/teacher and teacher/student.
FCPS has answered many questions about our fall 2020 learning opportunities in the Reenvisioning, Reimagining and Renewing Booklet.
Morton Leadership is committed to providing a daily schedule for delivery of instruction and expectations for teaching and learning. Upon approval of SBDM, we will share more specifics regarding the daily instructional schedule with our families.
A monthly newsletter will be distributed by the principal. Please be sure that your email addresses are accurate so that you do not miss out on vital information.
The district's Technology Department is staffing a help desk for families who need technical support with their child's FCPS account or Chromebook. Please call the Student Tech Support line, 381-4410.
