School Announcements

    ACE Families,  

    The end of our year is quickly approaching and even though it has been a very different “end of the school year” than most of us have ever experienced, we have many things to wrap up.

    Here are some important dates:

    Tuesday, May 26 – Fifth Grade Virtual Promotions (Fifth grade teachers will send out a schedule)

    Wednesday, May 27 – Last day of school

    Tuesday, June 2 – Materials Return – Last names A – H from 9:00 – 1:00

    Wednesday, June 3 – Materials Return – Last names I – Q from 9:00 – 1:00

    Thursday, June 4 – Materials Return – Last names R – Z from 9:00 – 1:00

    On the materials return days we will be accepting the following from you – only those items that apply to your child:

    •         Taking back Chromebooks and chargers (in a gallon size ziplock bag preferably)
    •         Library books
    •         NTI paper packets (if requested by teacher)
    •         Special Education Materials                                                                                          
    •         Band instruments
    •         Orchestra instruments 
    •         Intervention books/pouches
    •         History Alive Social Studies Books (5th grade)
    •         Hardback WONDERS books – Literature Anthology/Writing Workshop
    •         Anything else school or district owned
    •         WE DO NOT NEED – student workbooks for Wonders, Investigations, EnVision, or Simple Solutions

    *These return days are ADULT ONLY events. Kids need to stay at home or in the car if they do come.  This is for personal safety.

    **Stations will be clearly marked to drop off items and to pick-up items (each teacher will put any student belongings remaining at school in a brown paper bag).  We will be practicing Social Distancing, so please wait your turn.  We are also requesting that everyone wear a mask.

    ***For the safety of all ACE staff and due to the federal, state, district, and Health Dept. guidelines and recommendations, we do not have time to socialize during this time.  We will be set up out front along the pick-up/drop off loop.  If it is raining, we will be inside and someone will take your child’s name, call into the school on the radio, and items will be brought out to you. 

    On behalf of the entire ACE family, it has been an honor to work with your student(s) and you this year and especially over the last 8 weeks.  You have risen to the occasion and done a great job!  We know that it has not been easy on anyone and that school was not the only change in your life.  We appreciate the great partnership with home and school and it is even stronger and more important now.

    We hope that your summer can be a great time of relaxation and that you continue to be safe, happy, and healthy!

  • Parents and Students,

    As we finialize plans for our "NTI school year", please know that many plans are being developed and work continues for when school resumes in the Fall of 2020.

    As of April 27, 2020 ... we have 4 classes in each grade level.  We have 5 Related Arts classes:  PE, Science, Library/Spanish, Creative Arts (Music, Art, and Drama), and NEW - Technology (with an emphasis on keyboarding), plus we will continue to have band and orchestra.  We will have Primary Enrichment and GT service teachers, two intervention teachers, along with a District Mental Health Specialist and a Child Guidance Specialist.  

    All classes will be held inside the main building for the first time in many years.  

    Many hours of planning have taken place to offer some very exciting programs at ACE next year, while continuing with some of our traditional activities.

    There will be a list of programs coming very soon, but we will continue with:  Choir, Archery, STLP, Academic Team, Cross Country, Jump Rope and Coding, plus we will be adding a STEP team and a Bucket Drumming curriculum to our Creative Arts.  We will still have the Veteran's Day program, the Holiday concert, and Talent Show.  Plus we will have:  Math Night, Reading Night, FUN RUN, Trunk or Treat, Yule is Cool, Living History Musuem, Sevice Learning Projects, Black History Month, I Love to Read Week/Career Days, Roller Skating, and Field Day.  

    ACE will also be adopting the AMPLIFY Science Curriculum and a new Social/Emotional Learning Curriculum.  Teachers are planning and learning about these new endeavors as we speak.  

    I assure you that the ACADEMIC, Extra-Curricular, and Speical Programs will remain as strong as ever!  Things may look a little different, but ACE will continue to be a place where ALL our EAGLES SOAR!

    Technology Helpdesk for Families 

    The technology department is setting up a temporary call in helpdesk for families.  Parents who need technical support with their child's FCPS account or Chromebook can call our temporary Student Tech Support number, 381-4410. Support is available Monday - Friday from 8AM to 5PM beginning March 23rd. Support will not be available during Spring Break.

    Accessing E-Curriculum    
    Some students use Windows or Apple devices at home(instead of chrome books) with a separate login step required to sign in to Google in order to access Google or Clever eCurricuum apps.

    They may not realize that credentials to sign into Google are the same as those they use to sign into a chrome book where google sign-in occurs automatically.

  • SCHOOL is CLOSED for the remainder of the year!

    The last day for NTI will be May 27, 2020 


    ATTENTION:  The office will be closed except for Monday and Tuesday, April 27 & 28, 2020 from  9:00 - 1:00! 


    If you need a Chromebook or a paper packet for NTI Phase III, you will need to come on Monday or Tuesday, April 27 & 28, from 9:00 - 1:00.  You will need to remain in your car, call the office (381-4955) and the Chromebook/Packet will be delivered to you.  This will be the ONLY time Chromebooks/Packets can be picked up until another time is designated!



    Dear ACE Parents,

    As we begin Phase III on April 27, 2020, let us all take a deep breath and know that WE will get through this!

    Each grade will be sending a schedule of when “online classes” will be meeting.  These “online classes” will be Reading and Math for ALL grades with some of the upper grades tossing in some science, social studies, and writing along the way. 

    The “online classes” will be about 20 – 30 minutes in length and all resources are available on the ACE website under NTI.  All the materials will be available online or you may request a paper packet by emailing your child's teacher.  The “online classes” will also be recorded for your child to watch at other times that may be more convenient for your family.  Each day your child will also have the opportunity for a Related Arts Class (PE, Art, Music, Science, or Library) and those classes will also be about 20 minutes or so in length.

    All teachers will have “virtual office” hours as well.  During this time the teacher may invite your student to a small group, have individualized instruction, and most importantly…be available to YOU if you have questions, be able to answer emails, and to conference with the class, if necessary.

    The intervention teachers, speech teacher, Special Education teachers, Spanish teacher, EL, Band, Counselors, and GT teacher will also have “online lessons” or times for them to meet.  These teachers have links on the ACE website with activities to complete, should you choose to do so. 

    Teachers will be “taking attendance” of those in the “online class”, but that IS NOT the only way for your child to receive credit for the class/day.  Teachers will also be looking for completed assignments online and with the “packets” that can be picked up at ACE (by request) on April 27 & 28.  WE will most likely have a packet return day once this is all over for you to turn your packet(s) in to school, although most assignements are being turned in virtually via the virtual online classes.  Your child WILL be given credit for those assignments on paper or the ones completed online.  WE will work with you to ensure that EVERY child gets credit for "school" the next few weeks.

    PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE – be patient!  There will be glitches and technology problems and tantrums (mostly adult ones), but this is what we are facing for the short-term, hopefully!  Just think, by the time this is over we will thank our lucky stars for what we learned!
