Out-of-Area Requests

In limited circumstances, Fayette County Public Schools may permit a student to attend a different school than the one serving their family's neighborhood.

Plug in the student's home address to see the assigned schools (elementary, middle, high):

While not all schools are open to out-of-area (OOA) requests because of space limitations, you may ask for your child to attend an eligible school if they meet one of the criteria listed on the OOA application.

Note: If your reason for seeking an OOA placement is not listed on the application, then you cannot submit an online request.

The application window for the 2025-26 school year is now open.

(The 2024-25 application remains open for families who have moved but want their child to remain in the same school through the current year.)

Out-of-area application

Please keep in mind the criteria for applying are extremely limited, and because of capacity concerns, all students are encouraged to attend their assigned schools.
