Tentative Last Day of School Would Be June 3

Tentative Last Day of School Would Be June 3

During the school board's March 9 planning session, Superintendent Demetrus Liggins recapped where Fayette County Public Schools stands in regards to weather make-up days in the 2025-26 instructional calendar.

The district has canceled classes 10 times this winter. Since we have a four-day cushion in our calendar, we must make up only six of those snow days to meet the state's minimum requirement of 170 days of teaching and learning.

With March 20 and April 13 already earmarked as make-up days, students would also need to be in class on May 29 and June 1, 2, and 3. Tentatively, then, the last day of school would be Wednesday, June 3.

These dates will be confirmed and the high school graduation schedule will be announced likely at the board's March 23 action meeting.
