Board Announces Superintendent Screening Committee

Another step toward selecting a new Fayette County Public Schools superintendent is completed with the election of the Superintendent Screening Committee.

The establishment of a six-member committee is required by state law within 30 days of a superintendent vacancy, and the nomination and election process is laid out in statute.

Congratulations are in order for:

• Certified representatives: Sarah Fightmaster Bayerle, who teaches kindergarten at Maxwell Spanish Immersion Elementary, and Whitney Walker, who teaches social studies at Lafayette High School
• Classified representative: Adrielle Camuel, who serves as an administrative assistant in the Department of Student Belonging & Success
• Parent/guardian representative: Matthew Vied, whose children attend Cassidy Elementary and Morton Middle School
• Principal representative: Julie Strange of Wellington Elementary 
• School board representative: Penny Christian, the District 3 member on the Fayette County Board of Education

Looking ahead, there will be additional opportunities for our entire community to participate in the development of a candidate profile and share input on the qualities needed in the next FCPS superintendent.
