FCPS & Bryan Station High Earn National Music Honors
Fayette County Public Schools has received a Best Communities for Music Education award from the NAMM Foundation, and Bryan Station High School earned a SupportMusic Merit Award as a Best School for Music Education. FCPS is one of only three districts and BSHS one of three schools selected throughout Kentucky for the 2025 recognitions.
To qualify for the awards, staff and leaders answered detailed questions about funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, support for the music program, and community music-making programs. Bryan Station band director Michael Payne and the district’s Fine Arts director, Katherine Lowther, submitted the applications.
“These honors speak volumes about the talent, dedication, and support behind our music programs. We’re proud of the work being done and look forward to celebrating even more successes,” said Superintendent Demetrus Liggins.
