Two district employees have received recognition from the Kentucky Association for Professional African American Women Inc. (KAPAAW), which recently hosted its annual Empowering Black Women Conference. Miranda Scully, our director of Family & Community Engagement (FACE), took home an award for outstanding contributions for her leadership in the Lexington community and with Fayette County Public Schools. And Charliese Lewis, a district liaison in FACE, accepted honors for outstanding contributions as a community trailblazer in personal and professional excellence.
KAPAAW’s mission is to advocate on behalf of Black women and their families, promoting equity, striving for positive community impact, and helping families thrive. The association hosts an annual scholarship gala, a Black Girls Summit, a free after-school program, and the Prestige Academy college preparation program.
