TCHS Teacher Tapped as Kids’ Champion

TCHS Teacher Tapped as Kids’ Champion

Shealynn Duvall is September’s Honoree

Shealynn Duvall stands in front of banner as Superintendent Liggins hands her the plaque

Fayette County Public Schools has chosen Shealynn Duvall, a Special Education teacher at Tates Creek High School, as the Kids’ Champion for September 2025. Each month, our district recognizes an outstanding member of Team FCPS who makes a difference in students’ lives. Duvall displays exceptional dedication to students and embodies these key characteristics: innovation, advocacy, empathy, knowledge, and a positive attitude.

The person nominated her wrote, in part: Ms. Duvall has been my son’s teacher since January 2022. She has done nothing but given her all when it comes to her students. She has developed ways to better serve her students and has passed those skills along to other great MSD teachers. She has helped another one of my sons by advocating for him, and she also does it for other students. She points out how much she just wants her students to feel included. She also shows that our kids are hers as well. She knows how to effectively communicate with me, and we have developed a friendship beyond the classroom. I have never seen her not smiling. She even convinced me to even apply for a position as a paraeducator. That is the best thing anyone has ever done for me because I am loving what I do. I appreciate this woman beyond words.

Superintendent Demetrus Liggins surprised Duvall at school with the Kids’ Champion Award, sponsored by Forcht Bank. The Fayette County Board of Education will also salute her at their Sept. 22 action meeting.

If you know a Kids’ Champion who advocates for students and fosters a positive environment where all can thrive, you can recommend them for this districtwide recognition!
