Support Available for Families during Government Shutdown

Support Available for Families during Government Shutdown

Fayette County Public Schools is deeply committed to making sure every student has access to healthy meals and the support they need to grow, learn, and thrive every day, in every school. We understand that the federal government shutdown and delays in the release of SNAP benefits can create extra stress for some families. However, at this time, be assured that the free and reduced-price school meal programs are not impacted, and our students will continue to receive this essential service without disruption.

If your household is facing a temporary drop in income or you are having trouble putting food on the table, we want to make sure you know about the assistance available through our school meal programs and Student Support Services, along with community resources. Additionally, the Fayette Education Foundation has launched a Fill the Gap Fund for local donations.

Meal Support for All Students

FCPS resources: Department of Child Nutrition at FCPS.net/meals

  • For Non-CEP schools – These families may apply for assistance online at any time and up until the last day of school. Submitting the Meals Assistance Application helps determine whether your household qualifies for free or reduced-price meals based on current income.
  • For CEP schools – These students will continue to receive free breakfast and lunch every school day for the rest of the school year. We encourage families to still complete the Educational Benefits Form, which helps schools qualify for extra resources.

If you need help with either form, please call our Child Nutrition staff at (859) 422-2152.
