The next principal of Rosa Parks Elementary is Patrice Burlew, who begins her new role July 1. With more than 16 years of experience in education and dedicated service to Fayette County Public Schools, Burlew has served as assistant principal at Veterans Park Elementary since 2022.
“Ms. Burlew is a passionate, student-centered leader who brings a wealth of experience, instructional expertise, and a collaborative spirit to Rosa Parks,” said Superintendent Demetrus Liggins. “With a career rooted in service across multiple schools and a strong foundation in curriculum, equity, and professional learning, she is uniquely equipped to lead with vision and heart.”
Burlew joined FCPS in 2008 as a fourth-grade teacher. She taught in elementary classrooms at four schools for 14 years before becoming an assistant principal.
“Ms. Burlew’s commitment to students and teachers, her dedication to creating joy in classrooms, and her willingness to partner with our families make her a great fit for Rosa Parks,” said Chief School Leadership Officer Matt Marsh. “She has a high level of instructional knowledge but also understands the importance of building trusting relationships.”
Burlew holds a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Cincinnati Christian University, a master’s in Education from the University of the Cumberlands, and an Education Specialist degree from the University of Kentucky.
She will take the helm after Claudine Barrow, who is retiring from Rosa Parks.
