Lexington Legends to Salute School Resource Officer

Lexington Legends to Salute School Resource Officer

The Lexington Legends will shout out Jeremy Day, a school resource officer in  Fayette County Public Schools, as the Hometown Hero during the Baseball & Boom Bash on Friday, July 3, for his commitment to supporting students through The Fayette 50: Miles for Smiles campaign.

Later this month, Day will walk 50 miles to 29 elementary schools to raise funds for shoes, clothing, and other back-to-school essentials for students in need. "Every student deserves to start the school year feeling confident and ready to learn," he said. "This walk is an opportunity for our community to come together and support children who may need a little extra help.”

The nonprofit Fayette Education Foundation is partnering with Day to help raise awareness and connect community members with opportunities to support FCPS students.

"When a school resource officer spends part of his own summer walking 50 miles to help students, it reminds us that supporting children is a community responsibility," said Carrie Boling, the foundation’s executive director. "Officer Day's commitment reflects the very best of Fayette County, and we're proud to help turn that dedication into meaningful support for students and families."
