Lafayette Sets Bar High at FCCLA National Conference

Club members of Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) earned kudos at this summer’s 2024 national conference, which drew over 8,000 participants to Seattle, Washington. Lafayette High School set the pace for Fayette County Public Schools, with all five competitors placing in the nation’s Top 3 in their respective categories. Congratulations to all our students on strong efforts!

  • Evie Ellingsworth – Technology in Teaching, 1st Place Overall National Winner
  • DeLeigha Cummins – Speak Out for FCCLA, 1st Place Overall National Winner
  • Cassidy Long – Speak Out for FCCLA, 2nd Place Overall
  • Renata Centeno Sanchez – Speak Out for FCCLA, 3rd Place Overall
  • Claire McNees – Interior Design, 3rd Place Overall

Paul Laurence Dunbar High School

  • Artemis Torres Morales -- Fashion Design, Top 10 Finalist and Silver Rating 
  • Lilly Beall -- Chapter Review Display, Bronze Rating

Beaumont Middle School

  • McKayla Ball, Shane Bradshaw, Ivan Hernandez Nanguelu, Austin Sullinger, and Sidney Yaden -- Parliamentary Procedure, 4th Place Overall

Jessie Clark Middle School

Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America is an organization for students taking Family and Consumer Sciences courses. Its members develop leadership through community service, and they design career projects for competitive events.
