The annual Scholastic Art & Writing Awards are the nation’s longest-running, most prestigious recognition initiative for creative students (grades 7-12) and the largest source of scholarships for young artists and writers. Fayette County Public Schools competes in the regional organized by the Art Academy of Cincinnati, which encompasses parts of Kentucky, Ohio, and Indiana. This year’s contest drew nearly 3,400 visual art entries and more than 1,000 written pieces. The region’s gold key recipients qualify for national competition this summer.
