Jill Angelucci has been selected as the next principal for Squires Elementary School. Bringing 19 years of teaching and leadership experience, Angelucci has served as an assistant principal at Tates Creek Middle School for the past two years. She starts her new role on July 1.

Angelucci began her educational career teaching high school math in Illinois for seven years before relocating to Lexington in 2012. She taught three years at Lexington Catholic High School and two years at Beaumont Middle School before moving into administration as a curriculum coach at George Rogers Clark High School in Winchester. She was named assistant principal at George Rogers Clark in 2019 and since 2022 has been the assistant principal at Tates Creek Middle School.

“Jill leads with integrity, vision, and compassion,” said Superintendent Demetrus Liggins. “She is dedicated to fostering strong relationships and passionate about providing a supportive and rich learning environment for the Squires Elementary community.”

Recognizing the importance of involving students, staff, and families in academic achievement, Angelucci intentionally builds structures that encourage and empower the people around her, including the Student Leadership Challenge, the Student Equity Council, and a schoolwide Professional Learning Community protocol that led to increased student achievement and teacher effectiveness. She is committed to continuous improvement for both herself and others, pursuing certification in a variety of instructional and leadership programs and participating in statewide organizations including Kentucky Women in Educational Leadership and the Kentucky Association of School Administrators, where she serves on the board of directors.

“Jill is focused on enhancing academic achievement, promoting student well-being, and fostering a culture of belonging and inclusivity,” said Chief Elementary School Leadership Officer Lisa Smith, who oversees Squires. “We are confident she will be an effective leader at Squires.”

Angelucci earned a bachelor’s in Mathematics Education from Indiana University, a master’s degree in School Leadership and principal certification from Concordia University, and a Rank I with supervisor of instruction and superintendent certification from Asbury University.
