The gym at Edythe J. Hayes Middle School was filled with the sights, sounds, and flavors of the world during the recent International Day celebration. The event brought together students, families, and staff to showcase the many cultures that make up the Hayes community through colorful displays, traditional dress, music, dancing, and delicious food.
Families generously shared pieces of their heritage, allowing everyone to learn, experience, and appreciate the rich traditions. And the energy was infectious as students explored booths, asked questions, tasted new dishes, and participated in cultural activities.
International Day was more than just a fun event — it was an opportunity to build understanding, spark curiosity, and foster connections among our students and families. For questions, please reach out to Madeline Potter, the school’s Youth Services Center coordinator.
