High School Artists Delight School Board Members

For National School Board Appreciation Month, our five board members received portraits painted by high school students. The surprise gifts, which were draped on easels, capped the celebration during the Feb. 2 meeting of the Fayette County Board of Education. 

The young artists were recommended by teachers and Fine Arts staff for this special project:

• Adriana Farfan, a senior at Bryan Station, was paired with board member Penny Christian
• Jiya Sheth, a sophomore at Lafayette, with board member Monica Mundy
• Quincy Adams, a junior at Tates Creek High, with Vice Chair Amy Green
• Reese Hooks, a junior at Frederick Douglass, with board Chair Tyler Murphy 
• Nico Zhou, a senior at Paul Laurence Dunbar, with board member Amanda Ferguson

Board member Christian participated virtually. Quincy and Nico were unable to attend Monday night’s meeting at the John D. Price Administration Building; art teacher Jamie Montclair stood in for Nico.
