Chapters from Fayette County Public Schools participated this month in the Kentucky FFA State Convention at the Central Bank Center, and Locust Trace Agriscience Center secured several honors. Additionally, Tyren Harris, a 2025 graduate of Carter G. Woodson Academy, was selected to serve as Kentucky FFA state treasurer.
In this summer’s Agriscience Fair, Grady Salsburey of Locust Trace and Lafayette High had the top Plant Systems project in Division 3. The Leadership Development contest winners from Locust Trace included:
- Agricultural Proficiency - Agriculture Mechanics, Repair, and Maintenance Placement – Dante Codispoti, a 2024 Lafayette graduate
- Parliamentary Procedure – Alexis Goldie, Elaina Heil, Addison Hillard, Abbie Knox, Harmony Litteral, Sam Kroggel, Riley Hutchison, and Haylee Tucker
- Agricultural Issues – Jade Cox, Chloe Crovo, Katherine Crovo, Nancy Garcia Sanchez, Emily Miller, and Kenja Vargas Hernandez
In the middle school division, Maelee Thompson of Leestown earned top honors in the essay contest.
