Felicia Lindsay to Lead Audrey Grevious Center & Family Care Center
Bringing 25 years of experience working with some of Fayette County’s most vulnerable students and families, Felicia Lindsay has been named program director for the Audrey Grevious and Family Care centers. Since 2018, Lindsay has served as assistant principal at Martin Luther King Jr. Academy. She will start her new role on July 1.
Lindsay began her journey in Fayette County Public Schools in 1999 as a paraeducator working with students receiving special education services at Southern Elementary School. She later became the Family Resource Center coordinator before moving into the classroom and teaching special education for seven years at Southern. Her experience includes working as a behavior interventionist at William Wells Brown Elementary and PASS (Positive Approach to Student Support) coach at Tates Creek Middle School, where she transitioned into administration as an assistant principal.
“Felicia’s passion is working with students and families who need additional support,” said Superintendent Demetrus Liggins. “She is a servant leader who sees the potential in every student and staff member and builds bridges with families and community partners in order to increase student achievement.”
During her time at MLK Academy, Lindsay helped build systems and structures to support student success and promote positive behavior and led professional development to ensure consistent implementation. Those efforts decreased in-school and out-of-school suspensions. She is also the recipient of a Bronze Award from the Kentucky Center for Instructional Discipline.
“Felicia’s advocacy, passion, and dedication to the positive impact alternative programs make in the lives of children and our community is evident in her leadership walk,” said Director of Alternative Programs Chris Salyers. “The combination of her vision and many community connections will build model programs at the Audrey Grevious Center and the Family Care Center.”
Lindsay holds a bachelor’s degree in Communications from Morehead State University, a master’s degree in Special Education from Georgetown College, and a master’s in Educational Leadership and principal certification from Eastern Kentucky University.
